 Cen-Sad Community States on Thursday 4 February celebrated its 13th anniversary in Tripoli.
On this date 1998 a treaty was signed declaring the establishment of this Community at the conclusion of the Second African Summit held in Tripoli on 4-5 February 1998.
The treaty, which initiated by the Leader of the Revolution, paved the way for the establishment of the African Union two years later.
The signing parties of the CEN-SAD agreement included Sudan, Chad, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. The community has since then enrolled 28 members from the African continent including Libya, Sudan, Chad, Burkina, Mali, Niger, Eritrea, Central Africa, Senegal, Gambia, Djibouti, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Somalia, Togo, Benin, Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea Conakry, the Comoros, Mauritania, Kenya, Sao Tome and Principe.
